Located mid-way between Le Mans and Tours the original chateau on this site dates back to 1554. Deemed too small and in bad repair it was demolished and another bigger one built in the 19c. The current chateau (which is not listed) and estate stayed in the possession of the local family until the 1960s when it was bequeathed to a school foundation who transformed the outbuildings into classrooms and workshops and modified the interior of the chateau’s upper floors into dormitories, washrooms and salons in the 1970s. The chateau roof was replaced, heating, plumbing and electricity all upgraded with the addition of workshops and a large indoor sports facility (amongst others) in the late 1990s. The estate has been largely uninhabited since 2014 when the school moved into new premises nearer to Le Mans.

The main chateau was completely renovated on the 1970s and then modernised in 1998/99. It has over 1200m² of living space over four floors:
Basement: Kitchens, vaulted dining hall (73m²), other dining rooms, archives, laundry room, etc.
Ground floor: Entrance hall (33m²), 2 large reception rooms (over 70m² each), 5 offices, meeting room, etc.
1st floor: 12 rooms (offices and bedrooms), washrooms, etc.
2nd floor: 11 rooms (bedrooms and activity rooms), washrooms, etc.

The former stables in the shape of a horseshoe were renovated in 1998 into classrooms with 3 staircases: ground floor: hall, 7 rooms + wc. 1st floor: 6 rooms (roughly 470m² on each floor).

Another building block in a U shape offering roughly 1200m² over two floors.

Workshops (working areas, offices, wc, boiler room) circa 560m²

Gymnasium built 1990s, large hall, changing rooms, judo room, wc, etc. etc; circa 1000m²

Directors accommodation (5 bedrooms) circa 340m²

Chapel with original features.

A separate plot (of circa 2500m²) houses two properties (188m² and 173m²) and their garages which are also part of the estate.

Outdoor basketball pitch.

The land (circa 60 hectares) includes, lawns, parking, hard courts, woodland, prairie, river frontage and arable land (8 hectares).

Today we have on offer the whole estate which is ideal for an investment of the style boutique hotel, sports academy, school, etc. etc. Note a project for a hotel park (with the addition of numerous further separate accommodation) has been extensively explored but the restrictions on further construction within the estate limits has put this project on hold. We have close links to the local commune and mayor and would be happy to advise and assist with project proposals.

As you can imagine a property of this size and potential needs to be seen to appreciated – we would be happy to arrange viewings.
